The Hotel is owned by the Wilson family and one of our core objectives is to ensure that guests get the best possible service at all times. We therefore take great care in the recruitment and selection of team members.

The Balmer Lawn is managed on a daily basis by the senior team of Heads of Departments; all experienced and highly motivated individuals whose one aim is to ensure all the staff deliver a truly great experience for our customers. Chris Wilson is the Proprietor and works closely with Michael Clitheroe, the General Manager. Our aim is to have an efficient and highly professional workforce but not lose the common touch. All of the team are friendly and approachable and are here to make your stay at Balmer Lawn a pleasant and memorable experience, from check in to check out!
The team is headed by Anna Mueller-Heufelder, our Food & Beverage Manager, assisted by Damian Materla our Assistant Manager and Samantha Holden our Lounge and Terrace Manager as well as the rest of the team constantly providing impeccable service and attention to detail.
Beresford’s, the Hotel’s restaurant, is managed by Randy Gomez and his team of dedicated staff. It is not only popular with residents but is very busy most lunchtimes with many local followers. Sunday Lunch is particularly busy with our legendary “traditional roast beef” a real favourite.
Our Executive Chef Chris Wheeldon and our Head Chef Jim Wright know that great service needs to be complimented by great food and our team will ensure that you are not disappointed. Our Kitchen team consists of several full-time chefs and our pastry chef, Andy would like to point out that the assiette of desserts is not to be missed, but this dish for two to share is not for the faint of appetite – so please leave plenty of room!
Our new Saltus Spa is a great addition to the hotel, with its own dedicated reception area and six treatment rooms we can now offer a great range of treatments for all the family, including full day spa options. Rachel Kite our Spa and Leisure Manager heads the team of therapists which consist of three full time staff, Fern, Leah and Emily with support from our freelance team consisting of Karen, Wendy and Vicky who between them offer every indulgent treatment you can think of.

Our dedicated sales team is made up of Francesca Twinn - our Wedding Coordinator and Event planner, Shaun de Jongh - Conference, Events and Group Bookings Executive, Ellena Barnes - Sales Assitant and Alison Wilson our Sales Manager. The team deals with everything from intimate family/group get togethers, weddings, birthday's, fundraising and charity events right through to international corporate events and conferences for up to 120 delegates, plus everything in-between.
Our Reception team, managed by Lucy Davies will do everything to ensure that you have the best possible experience. We always try to upgrade rooms wherever possible so you may well be allocated a better room type than the one originally booked (subject to availability).
Last but definitely not least is the Housekeeping team. Our Head Housekeeper Anita Elsom loves the Hotel and loves her job and it shows, the housekeeping team works tirelessly to ensure that the bedrooms and public areas are always presented to the highest standards.

The Hotel employs between 45-55 staff dependent on the season, we are proud that without exception everyone takes a great deal of pride in what they do. Unfortunately not everyone can be mentioned but everyone working together delivers the overall relaxed, friendly atmosphere that the Balmer Lawn is renowned for.
