Valentines Weekend

Our Valentines weekend started on Friday 13th February for guests who decided to celebrate early, but on Saturday 14th February we had a full house! Upon arrival guests were welcomed with a Champagne Cream Tea. Our freshly prepared scones from our Kitchen team smelt delicious! Accompanied with fresh clotted cream and strawberry jam, the Cream Tea Buffet was faultless.

Valentines morning started with a mug full of love here at the Balmer Lawn. Our guests relaxed in front of our lounge fire whilst sipping on cappucinos which, for one day only, had been designed for the most romantic day of the year! Best place to work for in the New Forest

Balmer Lawn Hotel is one of not many hotels in the New Forest that do not employ staff on a 0-hour contract.

What are these 0-hour contracts again of which we have heard so much about in 2014?
0-hour contracts mean that there is no guarantee you will be offered work, even if you are employed by a company. It does however prevent you from taking on another full time job.

We'll meet again..

As part of the current refurbishment, we have been replacing some floorboards on the 1st floor and we have found some letters from 1944. In the Second World War the hotel was transformed into an Army Staff College and some of the "Orders for the Day" were issued from the hotel for the D-Day invasion.

Staff Christmas Party

Due to being so busy over the Christmas period, catering for over 1600 guests for Christmas Parties, up to 100 guests for our Christmas Package and a further 100 for New Years, we decided it was our turn to party to celebrate all our hard work that paid off and saw all our guests had a lovely Christmas celebration with us.

Winter Wonderland

Sunday Carvery continues..

 Stayed at the Balmer Lawn for one night. We arrived early on the Sunday for the carvery lunch. The carvery was very good, choice of 3 meats and roasties and large yorkshires which you helped yourself to. They brought out a bowl of fresh vegetables for you. A pianist was playing in the background and was very good value for £9.95 and you could add a starter or pudding for £5.00.
