Feeling very festive...

The Balmer Lawn is really looking festive as the Christmas trees continue to appear all over the Hotel.  This one is in our main entrance... time for a little count to see how many we have so far.  Can anyone guess the total?

Our new neighbours are filthy!!!

We have all heard about “neighbours  from hell” well just look at this lot! No pride in their surrounding (or appearance for that matter), noisy, smelly and some disgusting habits – well they are our piggy friends after all!!

#The Pig that is my favorite is the one with the black markings, what a looker and with all that jewlery in his nose. I only recently found out that the nose rings are there to discourage them from digging too deeply. The custom of putting the pigs out at this time of year is called “Pannage”.

We are delighted to introduce our new Restaurant Manager Mr Randy Gomez. An industry professional, Randy has worked at many local hotels, he is delighted to be given the responsibility to run Beresfords Restaurant as his own business.


Working alongside our Head Chef Jim Wright the total focus is on quality food and great service. With some local businesses producing more “style over substance” we are confident that our food and service will deliver client expectations. Come and judge for yourself. Rather than listen to the critics be your own critic!!

Trip to Champagne

A visit to champagne is a must – ensuring a greater appreciation of this special drink, we were lucky enough to visit the champagne houses of Canard Duchene and Thienot – Balmer Lawns preferred Champagnes.

The champagne making process proved to be fascinating from the first fermentation in the vats, the blending of the wine juices, and the riddling (removal of any remaining sediment which is collected in the neck of the bottle and removed as a frozen ‘cork’), adding of the syrup and then a further three years in the bottle where the second fermentation takes place. It takes the grapes of one whole vine to make only one bottle of champagne, and a lot of patience; it takes just a few moments to appreciate a good bottle!

Dynamic Duo

Free Apples

Chris and Alison have collected the apples from their bumper harvest and have put them out for guests to take as they leave the hotel. These juicy little numbers just go to prove that some of the best things in life are indeed "free"!

Wedding Farye Success

We hold two annual wedding fayres each year and last Sunday’s was another great success with over 40 new enquiries for 2014, 2015 and even some for 2016 – now that is forward planning!
