First things first, are you willing to create your own stationery, do you want it hand made or are you going to get a printers to do all the work.
It takes a lot of time creating your own when you consider what is actually involved;
- Save the date cards
- Invites
- Order of Service/Order of the Day
- Table Plan– We provide this included in the cost.
- Table Menus
- Place cards – We provide these included in the cost.
Often a lot of money is spent on stationery and it really doesn’t make the wedding any more special.
Keep it simple with the save the date cards, something that can be stapled into a small diary is perfect. Try not to be too over the top with the theme or design of these. You may find that by the time you do the invites all your plans have changed and those Hawaiian themed hot pink save the date cards have nothing to do with your romantic candlelight wedding.
The invites are the ones to concentrate on, as many of your guests will keep them afterwards as a little memento. Remember that most of them will have to be posted and as lovely as they may look if they are an inch thick and weigh a ton, you are going end up spending most of your wedding budget on postage. Try and include a direction card, details of your gift list if you are having one and a little card asking for any dietary requirements that they can send back with their response. In the past many people have feared putting gift list details with their invites but trust me your guests will be relieved as it will make their lives so much easier knowing they have brought you something you actually want and need.
