Bride
I know most ladies out there will probably say that the dress is the most important part of the day while the groom will say it’s not clashing with the final of the world cup. While there is something to be said about not clashing with a huge event, I have also got to agree that if the dress is wrong nothing will feel right. It’s your special day so you have to feel special but it might not cost the earth. Start by going to all the big, fancy, expensive, shops they are much more likely to have a better knowledge of what will suit you and every lady deserves the royal treatment, so pick their brain’s, feel like a queen and then buy it elsewhere. It may sound harsh but if their prices weren’t so high…..
The Internet is a great resource, whether you buy it online or just find the best place to buy. My top tip is Reading have a look online as there a quite a few large places that deal with both new and second hand gowns at a fraction of the cost.
Bridesmaids & Flower Girls
Don’t look for bridesmaids dresses look for evening or summer dresses. I once saw the cutest little bridesmaid’s dress in a department store in Southampton for £70, I then saw a dress in exactly the same style & colour with pretty much the same details on it for £4.99 in the children’s section of a high street chain. I imagine the fabric on the cheaper one wouldn’t have been as soft and it probably wouldn’t have lasted so long but that is a really extreme example. You might even be able to get your bridesmaids or the mums to pay for themselves if they get a little say in the dresses, your not being cheap your just being cost effective and they will understand.
Grooms Party
The only way to save money here is to shop around and/or get everyone to pay for their own, as with the bridesmaid dresses this is quite common and people won’t be offended by it. Try and book with a well known menswear shop so all members can go to their nearest for fitting, but then they can all be delivered to one place.
