This week, we’ve been talking to our housekeeper, Anita, who spills all on her day-to-day life at Balmer Lawn.
Tell us about yourself… what is your job title, and how long have you been working at Balmer Lawn?
My name is Anita, and I’ve been working at Balmer Lawn for 20 years. I started in 1999 after coming back from a tour in Cyprus with my husband, who at the time, was working in the Forces.
What’s the best thing about your job?
The best part is when I see happy customers who tell us that they’ve had a lovely stay, compliment us on the cleanliness of their room and say that everything is on top form.
What makes Balmer Lawn a great place to work?
Balmer Lawn is a great place to work because it has a lovely atmosphere, and the staff are superb – they’re always friendly, and always want to help each other. We have a great team spirit.
As Balmer Lawn is so dog friendly, if you were a dog, which breed would you be, and why?
If I was a dog, I think I’d be a small one – probably a Western Scottish Terrier, as I think they’re quite cute!
If you were a cake on the afternoon tea menu, which one would you be and why?
I think I would be a French Fancy, because they’re cute, small and very sweet!
What item should you never forget when visiting Balmer Lawn?
Never forget your toothbrush!
Describe Balmer Lawn in three words.
Perfect, friendly, beautiful.
Now describe Balmer Lawn without saying the words ‘hotel’, ‘New Forest’ or ‘guests’!
Balmer Lawn is a pretty place in the countryside, in Brockenhurst, with plenty of walking routes and an abundance of nature.
What’s the best activity to do in the New Forest/from the Balmer Lawn doorstep?
I would definitely say outdoor activities so that you can make the most of the countryside such as cycling, walking and hiking.
